World of Warcraft Classic has been receiving waves of TBC Classic Gold content updates since launching this past year, linking in with all the material releases to the first game. Blizzard has stated it’s”compared” to incorporating expansions to the Classic experience but no decision has yet been made.
In the time of writing, WoW Classic is currently on Phase 5 of this PVE content schedule (see below) and the Ahn’Qiraj raid was unlocked so, once you reach max level, you will have access to a number of raids and World Bosses to handle.
If you think you are prepared to play World of Warcraft Classic, you’ll need a subscription to achieve that. Unlike modern Warcraft that lets you produce as many characters as you like and play them up to level 20 without subscribing, if you’re following the vanilla experience, you will want to put your money where your mouth is. The good news is that once subscribed, you’ll have access to both Classic and contemporary Warcraft.You can either pay a month at one time or you choose to subscribe for more which will operate out slightly cheaper.
Do not expect a miraculous uptick in visual quality — those beam tracing effects only apply to shadows, so you are going to find a softer, more realistic areas of darkness when you are using the choice.
You’ll need a GPU that supports ray tracing tier 1.1, with the newest drivers, as well as the May 2020 update for Windows 10 — and, clearly, you’ll need to be using DirectX 12.
As announced earlier this week, the GeForce 452.06 driver provides additional support for the WoW Shadowlands beta. You can head to the Blizzard website to opt-in to get a chance at beta accessibility, as always.
The people at Wowhead have captured a load of comparison shots to reveal what people ray-traced shadows look like. It is a pity WoW ray tracing won’t go past shadows for today, since the stylised design and easy character models would appear incredible under the spotlight of exceptionally realistic light.
Blizzard first detailed Shadowlands at Blizzcon 2019.
