El Portal, the gastronomic project founded by businessman Carlos Bosch seven years ago, is one of the most busy and cosmopolitan spots in Alicante. Bosch has found the formula of non-stop and top-quality cuisine along with an exciting wine selection, the most effective way to meet the demands of the day and offer over 300 services per day. Since, in addition to the gastronomy, El Portal is a gathering point and an ideal place to have a drink, after midnight, with the finest music from DJs.
The owner is a lover of wine and as such is home to a wine cellar in the premises, which houses an important collection of Jerez along with champagne and Jerez labels. He is also an advocate for the Krug champagne brand. This means that he has an exclusive table set in an elegant areas on the premises, suitable for at least four guests and a maximum of eight. Here you will take a taste menu , made by the chef and co-owner Sergio Sierra and accompanied by this exquisite French champagne.
The goal of La Table Krug will be to live a gastronomic experience where food goes alongside Krug Cuvee, although diners can, if they would like, to sample different vintages and gems from the maison: Cuvee, Rose, Vintage , Collection, Clos du Mesnil and Clos d’Ambonnay. All at a discount of 20% in the price shown by their El Portal menu.
This tasting menu (190 euros, VAT included and a bottle of champagne for every two people) starts with a variety of shared dishes, including Maldonado Acorn-fed Iberian Ham, cut with a knife from Leon and accompanied by small pieces of bread to that you could add natural tomato and oil or some half-cured mullet roe.
The variety of dishes begin with an ounce of Iranian beluga caviar laid on a bed of cream. It continues with egg yolk, potato, bacon and black truffle. This is the beginning of a magnificent cooked red prawn from Denia.
For main dishes, bluefin tuna, nettles, and an excellent squab that Sergio Sierra prepares just right with three cooking times. For dessert, red fruits with mascarpone ice cream.
