Based on our model as well as the most recent set of data2 published by the Madden website, we discovered several players Mut 22 coins against whom Madden and a model-based approach seem to be at odds, and the results are fascinating.

Injecting human judgement into a system of grading isn’t necessarily a negative thing. Daniel Sorensen is a good illustration. He’s having a horrible season in The Kansas City Chiefs, and Sorensen is a major factor in their defense’s surrender of 69.5 points, which is more than what they had expected to concede this season, which ranks 31st in the league. Sorensen’s play has earned him an overall coverage grade at 42.2 in 100 points from Pro Football Focus and an overall score of 35.5. Yet, despite his struggles Sorensen still appears quick! Based upon his on-field speed according to player tracking data, we’d expect an essentially model-based speed score for Sorensen at around 89. That’s almost 7 more points than Madden’s grade for Week 9 of 82. Perhaps the folks at EA would rather not provide a player having a similar performance to Sorensen with a high score in an important category like speed ratings, given that it has such an outsized impact on game play. If this is the case you can’t blame them.

Other notable outliers include Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who holds the highest speed rating in the entire game of Madden at 99. Hill is certainly fast, and maybe we’re not arguing here but his best-ever speed of 22.8 mph is good for only fourth place in the league as of 2017.3 Furthermore, his current weekly average speed of 22.8 mph although very impressive, does not even make the top 50.

The two Baltimore Ravens teammates also make the list of somewhat overrated speedsters. Lamar Jackson appears to be slowing down this season maybe due to ongoing back injuries. The average speed he reached per game of 19.4 miles per hour last season was almost a full mile per hour more than his speed in the current season. Madden does not seem to care, though. The 96 speed score Madden gives Lamar halfway through the year is almost 11 points higher then his model-derived score.4

Middle linebacker Patrick Queen is a stronger instance of overestimating. Queen’s speed data is less than the speed that EA normally requires of players who have the 90 speed mark as well as Queen has experienced a slowdown during his sophomore year, averaging a per-game max speed of just 17.1 mph in 2021.

In the end, Keenan Allen is still underrated, if only slightly. He should ask for buy Madden nfl 22 coins a bump in his speed rating of about 2 points or morebecause he’s earned it.
