Humans are provided or blessed with various body systems that maintain their bodily functions, or in simple words, keep them alive. Several bodily functions are necessary, like respiration, for which humans have a respiratory system, for circulation of blood, humans have a circulatory system, and so on. There is one function that is neither necessary to stay alive nor is a primary bodily function, yet it is necessary for the future generations of mankind, this system is the Reproductive system. It is not necessary to reproduce, and it is not like if you would not reproduce and give an offspring to the generation your bodily functions will falter. You will be completely fine whatsoever. Reproduction is regarded as a moral duty as a human being and any other living organism to sustain its species and evolve.

Like other body systems, the reproductive system has some organs assigned for the task. There are primary and secondary reproductive organs which help a living organism reproduce. Talking about humans, the primary reproductive organs in males are penis, scrotum, testes, epididymis, vas deferens, prostate, and seminal vesicles. And in females, the primary reproductive organs are, labia majora, labia minora, Bartholin’s glands, clitoris, vagina, uterus (also known as the womb), ovaries and fallopian tube.

As mentioned earlier as well, the main motive of the reproductive system is to reproduce, and as humans reproduce by the means of sexual reproduction, the reproductive organs of both the parents (male and female) are needed. And this is known as sexual intercourse. Sexual intercourse consists of sexual contact between two individuals, a male, and a female, involving penetration which means the insertion of a man’s erect penis in a woman’s vagina, ending up in sexual satisfaction in form of orgasms from both the parties and ejaculating of semen, which contains sperm cells within the vagina. With sexual satisfaction, several hormones are released in both males and females, which ensures the fertilization of both the reproductive cells, sperm in men, and ova in women.

The intercourse will not be successful until and unless both the parties are sexually aroused, hence the arousal of both the parties is necessary. The arousal in men can be detected by the erection of their penis.
