I’m not a coder or game manufacturer so that I may just be naive

  • If the player takes, which means getting less money so 2K should make adjustments for how players take contracts beyond just cash, the display looks exactly the same as it does now where it states”approved” and you’ll be able to adjust that to not sign himbut instead it would state”accepted – sign-and-trade.” As soon as you reach next, NBA 2K21 takes you to 2K21 MT the transaction display and a message appears that says”to be able to complete this sign-and-trade, you must complete the trade” or something along those lines.

You need to put in TPEs or salaries to make as it is 24, the trade function, which would remain the same. The part that is key here is that another team would need to be set to accept, so the trade logic could be out the window. So if you are bringing in a guy who is earning $20m, you can send out five trash players and a second round pick and the opposing team will probably accept it.

The hardest part would be making the adjustment where sign-and-trades hard cap the receiving team. The simplest route is to dismiss this, which NBA 2K21 essentially already does. The other route, which honestly should not be challenging but I may be naive, would be to then trigger the hard cap in the luxury line, or luxury apron but I don’t think 2K gets got the nickname in NBA 2K21. In case NBA 2K21 does hard cap you, a message should be appear that states”as a consequence of this sign-and-trade, you are now hard capped in the luxury tax. You must eliminate $XM in contract to acquire under the tax amount “

Now, you would be on sent to a roster page and would have to waive/trade players to become under the taxation. NBA 2K21 would have to follow these steps, although transactionally it doesn’t do this in real life – the Warriors had to exchange Andre Iguodala into the Grizzlies before finishing the s&t with Brooklyn to get beneath the hard cap, but the arrangement of which the choices were made was reverse. I expect that’s enlightening and makes sense. I really don’t think that it should be that hard to execute in NBA 2K21 but I’m not a coder or game manufacturer so that I may just be naive.

Makes sense to me, though I doubt 2K puts that much work to some non profitable mode. The trade logic might mess it up too. Because players would have to have a motive to want the st (ie more money, join with a different celebrity, get to a rival ). These things are tough to code in in sure. And a reason to do it to a lesser extent tho would be needed by also the trading group. Cap wouldn’t be super hard to get around because it’ll be off season and many teams could have cap and I think that they can even go over since they’d technically sign a player with bird rights to buy NBA 2K21 MT Coins possibly receive a player they did not have bird rights to (I think that is the way the KD/Dlo trade happened too but I might be wrong).
